Studio Information

Started in 1977 by owner/manager, Kev Turner, Steel Paintbrush now has 2 studios. One in Durham and another in Consett. We are well known in and around the Durham area and have an extremely wide and varied client base. EVERYONE is welcome in both our studios, be it a 1st-time visit or for tattoo veterans. We also offer a wide range of piercing at our Durham studio, as well as selling high quality body jewellery. We try not to lean more to one stlye than any other. We all have strengths in various areas of tattooing and we are comfortable to work in any style and colour/black and grey combination. We are well versed in cover-ups, re-works and large scale work. As well as all the usual styles you would expect to see from a studio - New-Skool, custom and flash Japanese work (Kev won an award for a custom Japanese body-suit at Peterlee Convention 2007), black and grey, general flash designs, fantasy, abstract, full colour work, portraits and custom tribal. Our piercing service is also 1st class. We can perform all the 'usual' body piercings as well as offering genital, surface and microdermal piercings. Play piercing and corsetting is also available after a [free] consultation.

All our artists work to an exceedingly high standard, no matter what the tattoo or piercing is. We are more than happy to do custom/one off designs as well as alter any of the flash designs in our studio.

A professional, yet friendly studio. Our regular customers often drop in to say hello (and drink all our coffee!) which is great for 1st-timers as they can chat to all our customers and staff and - hopefully - feel at home.
